LDRS 26 Hotel Information

Launch Dates: July 12-15: Commercial Launch, July 16-17: Tripoli Research Launch

Please note that there are two locations where our host hotels are located - there is one hotel in Jean and there are three hotels in Primm. Each location has its advantages and disadvantages for the LDRS attendee. Please read the following information carefully!

Jean, Nevada

Primm, Nevada

Jean is located closer to the launch site, at the intersection of Interstate 15 and Nevada State Highway 161. From here it takes about 10 minutes to get to the launch site.

Primm is located about 10 miles south of Jean on the Nevada side of the border with California. From here it takes about 20 minutes to get to the launch site.

The hotel at Jean is Gold Strike, on the east side of I15 (same side as the launch site).

Note that the banquet Saturday night will be held at Primm.

The hotels at Primm:

Buffalo Bill's, on the east side of I15;
Primm Valley Resort, on the east side of I15;
Whiskey Pete's, on the west side of I15.

Note that the banquet will be held Saturday night at the Primm Valley Resort. More details on the banquet will be available soon.

The Gold Strike has the advantage of being closer to the launch site itself by 10 minutes or so, but there are relatively fewer amenities. If you want a great place to shower and sleep, you don't have anything to ship to the hotel (see below) and you don't care about the 10 minute drive each way to the banquet, we recommend staying in Jean.

The Primm hotels are 10 minutes farther, but there are more "other things" to do there, like shopping and amusements for kids. If you are bringing family members or friends who are not into the whole rocketry thing, you don't want to have to drive back to Jean after the banquet, or you need to ship some of your stuff to the hotel (see below), we recommend Primm.

Table games (blackjack, craps, roulette, etc.)

The following gas stations and other attractions are available at the Primm hotels:

Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas (visit the web site below for more info)
Slot machines
Table games (blackjack, craps, roulette, etc.)
Poker room (at Buffalo Bill's)

ALL FOUR HOTELS also prohibit bringing to a hotel room any of that HAZARDOUS stuff - stuff including but not limited to motors, ejection charges, ignitors, flammable liquids, solvents, Carrot Top DVDs, etc. In fact, don't even THINK about bringing any of it into any building!

The following information for shipping NON-HAZARDOUS stuff (in other words, stuff that does NOT include things like: motors, ejection charges, ignitors, flammable liquids, solvents, feminine hygiene products, etc.) applies to all Primm hotels:

"Storage space is very limited in the cage area of the Shipping & Receiving Department. In addition, we have no storage facilities for items of high value and the Hotel cannot be responsible for loss or damage of any shipment after delivery.

"Please note, there will be a handling charge per package and/or box. You must contact the Convention Services Manager or the Shipping/Receiving Department between the hours of 7:30am – 3:30pm to pick up any packages shipped to the hotel. The Hotel will not contact you. Shipments that require special handling (refrigeration, etc.) must be coordinated with the Shipping/Receiving Department prior to shipping any packages and advising them of the number to expect.

The Hotel will not accept the following deliveries:

1. Collect (C.O.D.) Shipments
2. Shipments that require a forklift to unload.

The Gold Strike hotel will not accept shipments. All shipments must be directed to one of the Primm hotels.

Shipments to any Primm Hotel for a meeting/sleeping room should be addressed as follows:
